What can you buy nowadays that gets the family to sit down with each other and have fun and laughs and actually add to one’s wisdom? The answer is Proverbial Wisdom Junior.
The new Junior edition of the game, Proverbial Wisdom® was named one of the Top 10 Best Games of 2002 by Dr. Toy’s 100 Best Children’s Products. Following in The Footsteps of the successful adult version, it has accumulated many awards and praises from toy testers, educators and game authorities since its release in 1999.
"It’s wonderful to see that our persistence to develop Proverbial Wisdom Junior and that working with educators and students for a kid-friendly version of Proverbial Wisdom is paying off with recognition in the overall fun of game play, but especially for the educational and learning aspects of the game," said Jordan Pine, creator of Proverbial Wisdom and Proverbial Wisdom Junior.
Dr. Toy described the new game by saying, "This (Proverbial Wisdom Junior) is a simplified, colorful version of the original popular game Proverbial Wisdom. The Junior Edition is a game your child will be sure to enjoy playing," she continued. "This game will challenge and provide hours of fun."
Specially designed for ages 7 and up, Junior seems to be Filling The Void for a high quality, fun game for children. Pine explains, "I think we Hit The Nail On The Head with Junior. We are excited to see that The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree as Junior is already showing signs of receiving the numerous accolades compiled by Proverbial Wisdom."
The basic elements of Proverbial Wisdom Junior remain the same as the adult version with three different types of proverb challenges—sketches, definitions and pictures. However, rather than using a full-sized Proverbial Wisdom game board with dice, Junior uses a spinner, along with a card tray, clue hider, timer and a big sketch board with a non-toxic dry-erase marker. The first team to collect three of each card type wins. It’s As Easy as One, Two, Three.
"Since Proverbial Wisdom has achieved greater and greater success each year with adults, we wanted to make sure that children can also enjoy the fun of the game while learning about the familiar phrases and sayings that have been passed down for generations," Pine said.
Here’s some information about the creator, Jordan Pine. He is a lawyer, dentist, artist and eligible bachelor. But he loves to create games. His first game, Proverbial Wisdom, which we featured on the cover of our November 2000 issue, has been a tremendous success. Pine, a native Long Islander, now resides in Kiamesha Lake, N.Y. He learned to draw and paint in high school, which came in handy for the packaging and game graphics. He graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and earned his dental degree at the Boston University School of Dentistry in 1987 and his law degree from the New England School of Law in 1991.
Since Proverbial Wisdom’s introduction in 1999, it has gained more and more recognition as a classic, quality product and continually breaks its sales totals each year. Proverbial Wisdom gets players to discuss their knowledge of phrases that they’ve heard or used all of their lives. Players have More Fun Than A Barrel of Monkeys as they Laugh like Hyenas playing Proverbial Wisdom.
